The collection

This collection grew out of a passion for video games that has always extended far beyond the games themselves. I have always been particularly interested in the machines: their design, their technology, their peculiarities and the way each system reflects the time in which it was created.

Bringing these machines together offers a journey through more than half a century of video game history and a chance to observe how it has evolved: from the earliest dedicated systems and Pong-style consoles to computers, handhelds and today’s platforms. Some were major commercial successes; others had very short lives and are now virtually unknown. All of them, in one way or another, are part of that history.

Video games

Video games are entertainment, but they are also technology, design and culture. Each generation has changed the way we play and left behind machines that perfectly capture an era. Preserving them allows us to understand that evolution in a way that goes beyond emulation or simply looking at a photograph.

The purpose of this website

This website aims to present and document my collection in a simple, accessible way. It is not intended to be an exhaustive encyclopaedia, but rather a chronological journey through real machines in the collection, accompanied by their essential characteristics and a brief detail that helps explain their importance or what makes them distinctive.

I hope you find this website interesting and that it has something to offer if you share this passion. If you notice any error in the content, have a question or would like to suggest a correction, you can write to me at eskorbutinus@yahoo.com.

Best regards,
Enrique
