Aiwa CSD-GM1 appeared in Japan in 1994 as one of the most unusual variants of the Mega Drive family. Aiwa integrated Mega Drive- and Mega-CD-compatible hardware into a home audio system, allowing both cartridges and CD-ROM games to be used and turning it into an unusual combination of music system and video game console.
