Released in 2022 by Panic, Playdate stood out for incorporating a side crank as an analogue control, used in different ways depending on the game. Its highly reflective monochrome screen works without a backlight and is designed to be viewed using ambient light. The console also launched its catalogue through Season One, a collection of 24 games that were unlocked periodically for system owners.
