Panasonic introduced the REAL 3DO FZ-10 as a revision of the FZ-1 within the 3DO platform. It retained compatibility with 3DO CD-ROM software and the same basic architecture, but used a more compact case and a manual top-loading CD lid instead of the FZ-1’s motorised tray. The redesign simplified manufacturing and reduced the price of the hardware. Availability began in Japan in 1994 and extended to other markets later, so the Japanese introduction should be distinguished from Western release dates.
