PlayStation 3 debuted in Japan and North America in 2006 and reached Europe in March 2007. It was Sony’s first console to use Blu-ray as its game format and stood out for its architecture based on the Cell processor. The first Fat models are especially interesting because certain versions retained backward compatibility with PlayStation 2, a feature Sony progressively reduced and ultimately removed in later revisions.
