ODIMO appeared in France in 2010 as a game console conceived by BrainBox & Company for visually impaired people. It had no screen: all interaction took place through voice messages, speech recognition, a microphone, a speaker and seven buttons. Games were distributed on proprietary cartridges and included crosswords, arrowwords, Sudoku, Yams, card battle, battleships, quizzes and other logic games. The player could respond by speaking to the console, and its speech-recognition system did not require a prior voice-training process.
