Released in 2018, GPD XD Plus was a substantial evolution of the original GPD XD while retaining its characteristic clamshell design. It replaced the previous Rockchip processor with a MediaTek MT8176, doubled RAM to 4 GB and adopted Android 7.0. Its combination of physical controls, Android and emulation made it a handheld particularly suited to running Android games and classic systems through emulators.
