INTV System III, also known as the Intellivision Super Pro System, appeared in the United States in the autumn of 1985. It was not the cancelled “Intellivision III” that Mattel had announced years earlier, but rather the commercial return of the original Intellivision architecture under INTV Corporation. Terry Valeski and other investors had acquired the Intellivision rights and assets after Mattel Electronics withdrew from the market. The new model essentially retained the design and compatibility of the original system but used a black case with silver details. INTV supported its return with new cartridges and continued to maintain the platform for several years.
