Matsushita launched the Panasonic Q, model SL-GC10, in Japan on 14 December 2001 as a result of its collaboration with Nintendo. The device combined a Nintendo GameCube fully compatible with its game discs and a home DVD, Video CD and CD player, a function the standard GameCube did not offer. It used the same gaming core — the PowerPC Gekko processor and Flipper graphics system — but adopted a silver case, front-loading tray, information display and remote control for its audiovisual functions. It was marketed exclusively in Japan.
