Sony launched PlayStation 4 Pro, CUH-7000 series, on 10 November 2016 in Europe, Japan and North America. It was the first time PlayStation introduced a higher-performance variant within the same generation and during a console’s commercial life cycle. PS4 Pro particularly increased graphics capability and was designed to improve resolution, image stability and frame rate in games prepared to take advantage of it, while also offering 4K video output for compatible content. It did not have a separate catalogue: Sony maintained a single community and game compatibility across standard PS4 and PS4 Pro.
