Koei PasoGo appeared in Japan in 1996 as an unusual handheld console dedicated exclusively to Go. It used interchangeable physical cartridges and a large 320 × 240-pixel LCD screen capable of displaying the complete board, and eventually received 11 different titles, all related to this traditional strategy game.
