Tomy Data Battle appeared in Japan in 1995 as an unusual electronic game centred on creating and battling robots. Players could build them by combining different parts, pit them against one another and use interchangeable Data Units to expand and carry data, offering a particularly elaborate customisation system for an LCD game of its era.
