Philips released the Videopac+ G7400 in Europe in 1983 as the successor to the G7000. It retained compatibility with earlier cartridges but added graphics hardware capable of generating higher-resolution backgrounds. Some Videopac+ games combined the traditional graphic objects with these enhanced backgrounds, while other titles could still run on the G7000 without the improvements. Philips prepared an American version called the Odyssey³ Command Center and showed prototypes, but that model was never released on a broad commercial basis.
