Sega Multi-Mega was the European PAL version of the system known in North America as the CDX. Marketed in 1994, it integrated Mega Drive and Mega-CD into a unit much smaller than the combination of the two original machines. It accepted Mega Drive cartridges and Mega-CD discs and could also operate as a portable audio CD player using batteries for that function; video games required a television connection and suitable power supply. Its high level of integration made it one of the most compact official variants of the Mega Drive/Mega-CD family.
