PlayJam GameStick was one of the Android microconsoles that appeared in 2013. The system concentrated its hardware in a small HDMI device similar in size to a USB flash drive and used a Bluetooth controller; when not in use, the stick itself could be stored inside the controller. The project was funded through Kickstarter and suffered several production delays before its commercial launch in November 2013. It ran a customised version of Android and downloaded games via Wi-Fi from PlayJam’s service, storing them locally.
