Released in 2023, Meta Quest 3 evolved the standalone virtual reality of Quest 2 by incorporating the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, pancake lenses and high-resolution colour cameras. Its major innovation was to enhance mixed reality, allowing virtual elements to be integrated into the real environment with greater precision without external sensors or a PC. It also retained compatibility with the Quest 2 catalogue.
