Victor, the Japanese company belonging to JVC, launched the V-Saturn RG-JX1 in Japan as an officially licensed version of the Sega Saturn. It ran the same Saturn software on CD-ROM and retained Sega's console architecture, but used the Victor brand and its own colour scheme. The arrangement reflected Sega's early strategy of allowing electronics partners to market compatible machines, similar to Hitachi's Hi-Saturn variants. RG-JX1 corresponds to the first generation of V-Saturn, and Victor later released revisions based on the second Saturn design.
