Nintendo released Nintendo Switch – OLED Model on 8 October 2021. It retained the hybrid concept and compatibility with the Nintendo Switch catalogue, but introduced a 7-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1280 × 720 for handheld and tabletop modes, 64 GB of internal storage, improved speakers and a wide, adjustable rear stand. Its new dock added a wired LAN port. It was not presented as a new generation or as a more powerful Switch: Nintendo incorporated it into the same family alongside Switch and Switch Lite, retaining the detachable Joy-Con controllers and the three play modes of the original model.
