The second-generation iPod touch continued Apple’s move towards turning the iPod into a platform capable of running downloadable video games. Like the first iPod touch after being updated to iPhone OS 2.0, it could access the App Store and install games directly into its memory, using the Multi-Touch screen and accelerometer as its main control systems. This second version refined the hardware with a more rounded design, physical volume controls and a built-in speaker, features that particularly improved its use as a portable gaming device.
