BANDAI APPLE PIPPIN — system in the collection

BANDAI APPLE PIPPIN

Apple conceived Pippin as a licensable multimedia platform based on Macintosh technology, and Bandai was the company that brought it commercially to market. Bandai launched Pippin Atmark in Japan in March 1996. The system used a PowerPC 603 processor, a CD-ROM drive and a version of Mac OS that could be included on each software disc, so the machine did not depend on an operating system permanently installed as on a conventional Macintosh. Bandai later marketed @WORLD in the United States. Pippin was intended to combine television entertainment, multimedia applications and access to online services in a single device.
