Evercade Handheld was released by Blaze Entertainment in May 2020 as a handheld dedicated to retro gaming with an unusual approach in the age of digital downloads: official games were distributed on interchangeable physical cartridges containing licensed collections from different publishers and classic systems. The console incorporated a 4.3-inch screen and Mini-HDMI output for playing on a television as well. The “EverSD” designation in this entry refers to a later accessory or modification that expands the capabilities of this unit and was not part of Evercade’s original commercial concept; historically, the 2020 machine was designed around its official cartridges.
