Elektronika IM-26 appeared in the Soviet Union in late 1988 and was an exception within the well-known Elektronika family of electronic games. Instead of being limited to a single fixed game, the machine was divided into a base containing the controls and power supply and interchangeable upper modules incorporating the LCD screen for each game. The concept was very similar to the one previously used by Bandai Digi Casse. Modules are known that were based on several LCD games that Elektronika had also marketed as stand-alone machines.
