Nintendo Game Boy Advance SP AGS-001 appeared in 2003 as a major redesign of Game Boy Advance, introducing a clamshell case, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a front-lit TFT screen. It retained compatibility with Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color and Game Boy cartridges. Two units can be seen in the collection photograph: one retains the original front-lit AGS-001 screen, while the other has been modified with a latest-generation IPS display, making it possible to clearly appreciate the difference between the original display technology and a modern upgrade.
