Victor launched V-Saturn RG-JX2 in Japan in June 1996 as the second revision of its officially licensed Saturn. It was based on the redesigned Japanese Sega Saturn and retained compatibility with the same CD-ROM games and essential platform accessories. Victor applied its own branding, colour scheme and commercial presentation, but did not create a separate incompatible catalogue. RG-JX2 succeeded the RG-JX1 and formed part of Sega’s early strategy of allowing electronics manufacturers such as Victor and Hitachi to market authorised versions of Saturn.
