Atari 7800+ was unveiled in 2024 as a continuation of the approach introduced with Atari 2600+: a modern console designed to use original physical cartridges. It reproduces the design of the 1986 Atari 7800 at a reduced scale and supports Atari 7800 and Atari 2600 cartridges through emulation, with HDMI connectivity and a choice of 4:3 or widescreen display. It was marketed together with the new wireless CX78+ controller and a cartridge of Bentley Bear’s Crystal Quest. Its historical interest lies in reviving not only the games, but also the physical media of two generations of Atari hardware.
