Sharp X68000 Expert appeared in 1989 as an evolution of the X68000 family, doubling standard RAM from 1 to 2 MB. It retained the 68000 processor at 10 MHz and the advanced graphics and sound hardware characteristic of the platform, capable of handling sprites, up to 65,536 colours, FM sound through the Yamaha YM2151 and ADPCM audio. These capabilities made the X68000 family especially well suited to arcade video game conversions.
