Vectrex was unveiled by General Consumer Electronics at the Summer CES in 1982 and reached the American market later that same year. Its exceptional feature was its built-in monochrome CRT monitor and its use of vector graphics instead of the raster image normally produced by consoles connected to a television. Transparent overlays placed over the screen were used to add colour. Mine Storm was built into the machine, which used a Motorola 6809 processor. The result was a home experience particularly close to vector arcade games such as Asteroids or Battlezone.
