Originating from the MIT Media Lab’s Siftables project, Sifteo Cubes proposed a highly original way of combining video games with physical objects. The second generation from 2012 incorporated a standalone base that stored the games, removing the need to keep a computer connected during play. The cubes detected movement and proximity to one another, allowing games to be played by placing, tilting, shaking and physically bringing them together.
