Zodiac 2 was launched alongside Zodiac 1 in 2003 as the higher-capacity version of Tapwave’s device. It shared its 480 × 320-pixel touch screen, 200 MHz ARM9 processor, Palm OS 5.2T, gaming-oriented physical controls and expansion through SD/MMC cards. The clearest commercial difference was memory: Zodiac 2 offered 128 MB compared with the Zodiac 1’s 32 MB. Both could run applications from the Palm ecosystem as well as entertainment software prepared for Zodiac, deliberately positioning themselves between an advanced PDA and a handheld console.
